No it does not cost to go to the Conference.
The conference will start on Satruday November 15 9:00AM. All reps will be require to attend the opening of the conference as reviews, elections and then general business and dates to determined by both Road Race and Sprint.
Once calander is decided then Road Race will conduct business then Sprint. Everyone is invited to attend and watch it is up to your representatives to debate and vote on issues. If you have concerns you can talk to your rep and then the rep will present to the conference.
Generally in the past, Road Race Business takes about 2-4 hours to complete after dates.

Please list the Representatives for PKA. If the other reps are known, would be nice to know who they are also.

How soon will it be before we know who the voting reps will be for the conf.???? Hard to discuss issues with them if we do not know who they are.

The PKA reps for 2008 NW Karting Conference are

Chris Hatch
Steve Brichard
Rick Holmboe
Bryan Green
Stu Hartzler Alternate

It is Oregon's turn to moderate the meeting and host the reception

Michael Schorn will be the Acting Oregon Governor and Meeting Moderator.
Ann Harlow will be the meeting Recorder with Cindy Schorn assisting.

The reps as well as the moderator can always use a hand in setting up the meeting and the reception.

We are reps, which is short for representatives. While it is true that we will vote our conscience as to what we believe is best for karting in the NW, we are open to ideas and perspectives. As such, this is a good place to air your perspectives, ideas, and arguments in favor or against.

This is the 4th year I have represented. I have proposed issues as suggested, verbatim, from the website. I have also voted against some of the proposed issues as I felt as a representative I needed to propose them, but in my opinion, I did not agree with the proposal. While I will make proposals on people's bahalf and I will summarize their argument, it doesn't mean that I will argue on the behalf of the argument just because my constituancy wants me to. For good, bad, and ugly, I always vote my conscience as to what is best. If I don't have an opinion...oh who are we kidding.

As you can see, depsite there being representatives from each club, ultimatly you need to be present in order to make an argument on your behalf. I do my best to represent, but I am also representing myself as well.

Thank you for the above information. Just curious as to how the voting reps are determined. Is there a procedure in the club by-laws or is it by office holder or volunteer???

Why, do you have an issue with the reps stated?

I believe they are volunteer and or recommended by club members. It's best to put forward people involved, those listed are great reps in my opinion.

The BoD determines the reps. In the past, the Sprint VP and Road Race VP are considered as reps as part of their job description. Generally speaking, the President is also a representative, in this Case Mr. Schorn. Since Mr. Schorn is presiding over the meeting, he can not be a voting representative.

From there, we want to pick representatives that have both a significant interest in karting in the NW as well as those who have a significant base of experience that will allow them to make good decisions.

Lastly, because PKA is a club that both Road Races as well as Sprint races, we try to find representatives who have experience in both.

Chris Hatch,
Thank you very much for the explanation. I (and I would guess others) did not have a good idea of how the reps were chosen. Again thanks.

IF you're talking race schedule, the intent is yes.

Unfortunately this last year outside forces changed what was decided at the conference (one race cancelled, one race changed, one race re-scheduled).

An issue that needs to be addressed during the opening session of the conference. :valvejust:
