Isn't the new requirement for helments coming up? I just wanted to throw this one out there....Has anyone seen the REEVU? I'm wondering if this would work for our sport? I know we require SNELL ratings but is that the only one acceptible? Sorry I don't have a rulebook handy. Anyway not sure if short track would work so well but for road race it could be a new way to look at what is around you. Hope everone has a good safe holiday season.

Snell is the only certification that is acceptable.

The SNELL 2005 helmets will no longer meet the rule standards after January 1 (actually December 25th).

SNELL 2010 Helmets will be good until 2020.

I seem to recall that there is a foreign certification that is acceptable. I do not have the info now but will check to see if I can find the certification that is good other than SNELL. If I can't find it or do receive information to confirm the above from JJ then I will repost.

There's also the SFI ratings (not European) that are legal in IKF:

24.1/2010 (Youth)
31.1/2010 and 41.1/2010

I know this because my kids ran the SFI 24.1/2005 helmets that are legal through the end of 2015. IMO SFI ratings are harder to obtain than SNELL M/SA ratings, so if it meets SFI it will meet SNELL.

If you have a ton of money burning a hole in your pocket look into FIA rated helmets (FIA 8860)
